Monday, May 30, 2022: UFCW Local 832 members from Avis Budget Group ratified a new four-year contract with some much-needed monetary increases.
“This group has had a tough go with COVID and their bargaining committee worked hard to get them some meaningful wins in this contract,” says Joe Carreiro, union negotiator.
The new four-year deal includes:
- National Day for Truth and Reconciliation added to General Holidays as well as the ability to exchange four of the General Holidays for other calendar days.
- Improved Shift Bid language that involves the Union in developing shift schedules.
- Retroactive pay back to May 1 and an immediate wage increase of just over $1.50, plus fifty cent increases in each subsequent year. Overcalled employees receive a 3% increase immediately, 2.8% in both year two and three, and 3% in year four.
- Contract language cleanup throughout.
UFCW Local 832 represents members at the airport location of Avis Budget and on King Edward Street. Our members work at the rental desks and detail cars at the King Edward location.
