Since its inception in 1938, UFCW Local 832 has grown to represent nearly 19,000 members who work across Manitoba in multiple sectors including:
- Cannabis
- Food Production
- Hospitality
- Poultry
- Red Meat
- Retail
- Security
- Support Centres
- Warehouse / Industrial
How We Operate
As a democratic organization, UFCW Local 832 holds leadership elections every few years where all members vote to choose a president, secretary-treasurer and several vice-presidents to serve on our executive board. We try to ensure our sitting vice-presidents represent a strong cross-section of workplaces across Manitoba.
Members also vote whenever a major decision about their workplace needs to be made. This may mean accepting or rejecting an employer’s contract offer, or deciding whether a strike is needed to win benefits an employer is reluctant to provide.
Our Union offices are located in Winnipeg, Brandon and Neepawa. They’re operated by our union representatives and other staff specialists to help members throughout Manitoba.
