Visions of Independence locks in a new contract

On July 5, UFCW 832’s members at Visions of Independence (VOI) voted yes to their new, one-and-a-half year collective bargaining agreement (CBA).

“This was not an easy round of bargaining,” says union negotiator, Phil Kraychuk. “But our committee remained focussed and we were able to achieve a wage increase for all of our nearly 400 members!”

CBA highlights include:

  • $0.25 wage increases on February 1, 2025 and a new $0.25 weekend premium for some rural locations.
  • Ability to bank over-time
  • Increased vacation days for longer-serving members
  • Increased sick/personal time and education premiums
  • Language updates

UFCW 832 members at VOI provide an individual, holistic approach to community living for people with disabilities. Through their work in day programs and group homes, they help people find day-to-day independence at locations in Carman, St. Claude, Austin, Portage la Prairie and Winnipeg.
