Hi, I’m Jeff Traeger, president of local 832 and lead negotiator in this round of talks with your employer, Sobeys capitals Incorporated, on behalf of our members working at Safeway and Freshco stores.
We were at the bargaining table Tuesday to Thursday this week, and last week on Tuesday, January 4.
What we’re doing at the table right now is working our way through all the non-monetary proposals. The monetary proposals have been set aside for discussion once we complete all of the contract language that affects your hours, classifications and those types of things.
So we have been working hard with your employer, your committee has been representing you extremely well, and they can continue that work on February 8, when we get back together.
In the meantime, you will see members of our bargaining subcommittee coming through your stores, and you can see pictures of both your committee and the bargaining Subcommittee on our website at UFCW832.com. So stay tuned. All the updates will be on our website.
We are still working on trying to deal with the Freshco problem with the employer, and any updated information we get related to that will be on our website or in my next report after our next round of bargaining.
