Bus Drivers at Winnipeg 1 School Division Ratify New Agreement

On Wednesday, January 12, 2022, Bus Drivers at Winnipeg 1 School Division voted yes to their new three-year collective bargaining agreement with the Winnipeg School Division.  The new agreement expires on August 1, 2024.

In 2020, Bus Drivers spent three months on the picket line to fight for fair wages and won them through the labour board’s ruling following the strike.

This new three-year collective agreement contains full retro-pay, a Cost-Of-Living Adjustment (COLA) for year one and 2.75% wages over the following two years of the agreement. COLA will be determined within the next few weeks.

“I’m very proud of our committee and what they were able to accomplish during this round of bargaining,” said Union Negotiator, Phil Kraychuk. “It also needs to be noted that unions collectively across this province have been pushing back against our PC government’s wage mandates and we’ve been able to get a fair deal because of our combined efforts.”

UFCW 832 represents over 90 bus drivers for Winnipeg School Division 1.
