Hi, I’m Jeff Traeger, President of UFCW Local 832.
It’s very unfortunate that during this pandemic crisis, so many working Manitobans and UFCW members have been laid off.
And I want those members to know whether they work in a restaurant, a hotel, in the hospitality industry or any other industries suffering during this crisis, we are here for you.
Your Union will help you to connect with employers that are hiring at this time or help you make your way through the complicated process of applying for Employment Insurance.
On the other side, We have many members working in a variety of sectors who are working very hard to keep our community going and put food on the table for Manitobans.
Food distribution workers, warehousing, grocery, security, personal care, and assisted living are all working extremely hard right now to keep our communities going.
Lastly, I want you to know that our union offices are going to be operating as much as we are allowed to, and we will be available 100% of the time for all UFCW members. Our reps, our specialists, our leadership are available to you by phone by email, or by text and
that will continue no matter what the future holds.
Finally, I want to ask you to remember that when you’re out there being served by any worker or UFCW member at a grocery store or elsewhere to be considerate, supportive and kind. And most of all, to remember that we’re all in this together.
