UFCW 832 welcomes Stonewall & Gimli Red River Co-ops to the Union!

TO ALL EMPLOYEES AT RED RIVER CO-OP STONEWALL & GIMLI 
WELCOME TO UFCW LOCAL 832! 

On May 23 & 24, 2020, you received a letter from Red River Co-op letting you know that as a result of a Manitoba Labour Board hearing you are now members of UFCW Local 832. We are sure that you have a lot of questions and want to know so what does this mean for me?

You are now part of an organization that represents over 18,000 workers in Manitoba! As a Union member with UFCW Local 832, you will have a voice and influence in your workplace when it comes to ensuring fair pay, better benefits, improving your working conditions and making sure you and your coworkers are treated with dignity and respect. Your Union not only advocates on your behalf through the collective bargaining process but also through appointing a full-time Union Representative to assist you and your co-workers with matters that arise in the workplace.

Kim Ferris will be your full-time Union Representative and it is her responsibility to ensure that the Collective Agreement, once negotiated, is being interpreted and enforced correctly, and that employees are being treated fairly. She looks forward to meeting the new Union members of Red River Co-op in Stonewall & Gimli.

Marie Buchan, Director of Operations will be negotiating the Red River Co-op Collective Agreement. This agreement expires in August of this year. Marie will be reaching out to you directly on the bargaining process and how you can get involved. She will be looking after the entire process from start to finish and will keep you regularly updated as the process moves along.

She looks forward to meeting as many of you as possible during the upcoming proposal meetings as well as ratification votes once the negotiations process is completed.

We have been in communication with the Co-op and both parties have committed that your current terms and conditions of your employment will not change unless it is through the negotiations process. A process that you will be part of!

UFCW Local 832 has also committed to not deduct any union dues from you, until such time as a new Collective Agreement has been ratified. You will be a member of our Union immediately and enjoy all the benefits of being a UFCW Local 832 member.
