UFCW 832 Welcomes New Members at Epic Opportunities!

On January 3, a happy new year for the senior managers at Epic Opportunities came in the form of a YES vote to join UFCW 832! The voting originally took place at the end of October, with the result delayed due to a dispute over who should be in the bargaining unit.

“I want to thank these new members for speaking out and recognizing that unions can work for everyone,” said Jeff Traeger, President of UFCW 832. “We’ve represented support workers at Epic Opportunities for nearly 30 years, and we’re proud to now work with this group of managers to bargain their first CBA.”

The 18 new members are a group of Senior Managers, SIL Senior Managers and Day Service Senior Managers. UFCW 832 already represents the Direct Support Professionals at Epic Opportunities. After discussions, this management group concluded that they also needed a stronger voice in the workplace to deal with the issues they were having with respect, dignity and heavy workloads.

The negotiators have already reached out to the new group of members and will start the bargaining process as soon as possible.

UFCW Local 832 is a union that represents over 19,000 Manitoban workers in food production, food distribution, warehousing, hospitality, security, personal care, assisted living, grocery retail and cannabis.
