Significant wage increases for members at EPIC St. Malo
On April 21, 2022, UFCW 832’s members working at both the residential and day programs at EPIC St. Malo voted to ratify three-year agreements, securing significant wage increases.
Although covered by two separate contracts, both groups have 7.6% wage increases with 3.5% of that coming in their first year of the new contract.
“It’s difficult to secure significant wage increases in assisted living due to the limitations of government funding and limited resources,” says Phil Kraychuk, union negotiator. “Hats off to our negotiations committee for their hard work – I’m so happy to see this hardworking group of people move forward with a big boost to their wage.”
In addition, both day and residiential workers now have an added 30-year level on a severance bonus and an increased bank of sick days.
