Mound Milk Transport Co-op Ratifies New Contract With 5% Wage Increase over Two Years

Mound Milk Transport Co-op, operating out of Brandon, Manitoba, ratified a new contract on January 7, 2020, at 100%.

The two-year agreement includes a 3% wage increase in the first year and a 2% increase in the second, with full retro pay. This agreement also acknowledges members with 30 years of service with a new 30-year wage progression, as well as provides for more bereavement days, a higher cell phone allowance and a higher gas allowance.

“A big congratulations to the hardworking members at Mound Milk, who are essential to getting fresh, local milk to Manitoba families,” said Debra Malmquist, Union Negotiator. “These well-deserved wage increases will make a real difference to the members, and more money for their cell phone and gas allowances will have a big impact day-to-day.”

Mound Milk Transport Co-op Ltd. is run by a Board of Directors with prices set by the Milk Board. The drivers, who must have a Class 1 licence, pick up milk from farmers in the southwest corner of the province and deliver it to Saputo in Brandon, where it’s processed.
