Loblaw Negotiations Update

September 12, 2023

Retail workers like you sent a serious message to Loblaw this past weekend by voting overwhelmingly in favour of a strike mandate. You’ve worked hard and deserve to have your contributions recognized by your Employer.

We see you. We hear you. And we are ready to fight for you.

We were able to finalize an agreement to have two separate bargaining units: one for Superstore and one for No Frills in Manitoba. This will not only allow the Union to work through each group’s unique concerns, it also gives members in each of the bargaining units a better voice at the table.

What does this mean for No Frills members?

It means that as soon as bargaining for the current Loblaw contract ends, we will begin bargaining for No Frills. A bargaining committee made up exclusively of No Frills members will focus on the issues that matter to YOU.

A representative from the Union will be in your store in the coming days to collect any questions you may have. Once we have compiled your questions, we will send out follow-up communications to keep you informed.

In the meantime, your current contract will remain in place until we can negotiate and vote on a new one. Start thinking about the improvements you’d like to see in your next contract. We’ll be reaching out to collect your ideas and hear your concerns soon.

If you have any questions, please reach out to your Union Representative

Roberta Hoogervorst will be busy at the bargaining table but if you have any questions, you can email or call her and Relief Representative Malcolm Welch will get back to you.

What does this mean for Superstore members?

It means we will continue our current bargaining of the Superstore contract and once that is concluded, we’ll jump into bargaining for No Frills. Your bargaining committee remains the same and we’ll continue to provide updates on this page.
