BREAKING: $2/hour pay increase for members at Loblaw

To appreciate the incredible work that our members are doing on the front line at this time, Loblaw has announced that their employees will be receiving a $2/ hour pay increase.

The pay will be retroactive to March 8 and will continue until the end of April and will be reassessed at that time.

“Our members are making heroic efforts right now across all sectors,” said Jeff Traeger, President of UFCW Local 832. “We are glad to see employers are stepping up and doing their part to ensure the safety and recognition of their employees. While the $2.00 increase is significant, we continue to lobby for all workers in retail grocery stores and other crucial sectors like security to make sure everyone is earning a minimum of $15.00 an hour.”

UFCW 832 is reaching out to other employers including Sobeys West Inc. and Red River Co-op to call on these employers to do the same.

UFCW Local 832 represents over 18,000 members working hard in food production, food distribution warehousing, grocery stores, security, personal care, and assisted living.
