FASD Office Workers give100% Strike Mandate

UFCW Local 832 FASD Life’s Journey Office Workers gave the union negotiating committee an exceptional strong strike mandate.

“Besides the 100 per cent strike mandate, the members also provided us with valuable feedback that we will be able to take back to the bargaining table,” stated lead union negotiator Martin Trudel.


FASD Office Workers Reject Tentative Deal

May 11, 2018

The office workers at FASD Life’s Journey rejected the proposed tentative agreement at the ratification votes scheduled for May 9 and 10.

As a result, the next step of the bargaining process is to hold a voting session for a strike mandate. This means that the members will now vote as to whether or not they are prepared to go on strike if the issues that led to the rejection of the aforementioned offer do not improve.


FASD Members Unanimous on New Agreement

On April 11, Local 832 members working FASD Life’s Journey Inc. voted 100 per cent in favour of a new 2 ½-year collective agreement.

Besides a lot of needed language improvements to the agreement and no concessions, the members obtained new seniority premiums equivalent to a 1.75 per cent and a 3.5 per cent increase for full-time employees with five and ten years of seniority. The new contract also contains improvements to bereavement leave.


FASD LIFE’S JOURNEY-OFFICE WORKERS NEGOTIATIONS CONTINUE

March 27, 2018

The negotiations of the renewal of the collective agreement for the FASD Life’s Journey-Office Workers is set to continue on April 20.

Union negotiator Martin Trudel said, “I’m pleased to advise that the FASD board of directors has given the agency direction in terms of how the funding is to be used and as such bargaining is now set to resume. The union committee is confident the parties will be able to complete the negotiations process.”

Following the aforementioned date, the union will provide the FASD members with an update as to the status of their negotiations.


Negotiations Start December 18 for FASD – Office Workers

November 27, 2017

The union negotiating committee, consisting of lead negotiator Martin Trudel, Jamie Krysowaty, and Nichola Mitchell will begin bargaining with the company on December 18, 2017.

Negotiator Trudel will provide an update on the status of negotiations following the December 18 meeting.


FASD Bargaining Rescheduled

October 4, 2017

The union negotiating committee was set to resume bargaining on September 22, however due to an extensive review of the current benefit plan for the members at FASD, negotiations will now continue on October 27.


More Dates Set for FASD Negotiations

May 30, 2017

The negotiating committees for FASD Life’s Journey have set further bargaining dates for July 27 and 28. Following the completion of these bargaining dates, the union will provided with an update on the state of the negotiations process.


Negotiations Continuing at FASD Life’s Journey

May 16, 2017

The bargaining committees met on May 12, and the parties were able to agree on most of the non-monetary proposals. Further negotiation dates have been set for May 25 and 26, at which time the committees will begin to address the monetary issues.

“With the introduction of Bill 28” union negotiator Martin Trudel stated, “Even though we are still not sure if this sector will be affected, it is more important than ever to have the support of the membership in order to apply pressure on the provincial government.”


Bargaining Continues at FASD Life’s Journey

March 21, 2017

The union negotiating committee, comprised of Jason Appasamy, James Arnold, Shawn McCartney, Michelle Friesen and union negotiator Martin Trudel, met with the employer on March 9 and 20. ‎During these two days, the parties did address most of the non-monetary matters.

The committees have been scheduled May 5 and 17 to continue bargaining and the union committee is hoping to complete the remaining non-monetary matters before beginning to address the monetary ones.


More Dates Set for FASD Bargaining

February 24, 2017

During the last bargaining session on February 3, 9 and 10, the union and the company did address some of the non-monetary items. The parties have scheduled more dates and will continue negotiations on March 9, with a further date set for March 20.
Following the completion of the March 20 meeting, union negotiator Martin Trudel with provide the members with an update as to the status of their negotiations.
