Members at Lorette Marketplace Unanimous on New Deal

UFCW Local 832 members working at the Lorette Marketplace were sold on their new four-year deal. On May 6, the employees voted 100 per cent in favour of their new collective agreement.

 

During the life of the contract, employees will see their wages rise by 6.75 per cent, with the first increase retroactive to May 21, 2017. Other monetary improvements are increases to the safety boot allowance, Sunday premium and a new evening shopping premium.


Tentative Agreement Reach at Lorette Marketplace

March 16, 2018

A tentative agreement has been reached between the parties for a new collective agreement for the members at Lorette Marketplace. The union will be recommending acceptance of this settlement to the members.

Union negotiator Sonia Taylor, who headed up these negotiations, has scheduled a ratification vote for Sunday, April 15. At the meeting, full details of the settlement will be presented prior to the members voting.

A further update will be provided after April 15.


Bargaining Delayed at Lorette Marketplace

January 31, 2018

Due to a scheduling conflict, negotiations previously scheduled for Lorette Marketplace for the beginning of February will now be held on February 27, 28 & March 1, 2018.

Union negotiator Sonia Taylor will keep the members at the Lorette Marketplace updated as their negotiations progress.


Lorette Marketplace Negotiations Underway

November 30, 2017

On November 21 and 22, the union bargaining committee, consisting of head negotiator Sonia Taylor and members Laura Cote and Helena Tetrault, met with the bargaining committee for Lorette Marketplace to begin negotiations towards the renewal of the collective agreement.

The parties had good discussions and were able to agree to some non-monetary items. However, the employer has proposed several concessions that could take away or reduce some of the benefits and compensation that you currently have. Your union bargaining committee has no intention of agreeing to these concessions.


Lorette Marketplace Negotiations Set to Begin

October 30, 2017

The union negotiating committee, consisting of lead negotiator Sonia Taylor, Laura Cote and Helena Tetrault, will be exchanging proposals with the company on November 21. The parties will continue bargaining on November 22 and the union will provide the members at Lorette Marketplace with an update after that date as to the status of their negotiations.

Local 832 represents approximately 45 employees who work at the store.
