Grace Hospital (DSM/Pharmacy) to vote on employers offer. Union encourages members to reject.

March 2, 2011
A vote on employer’s offer to date will be held on: Monday March 7, 2011 Holiday Inn Airport West (former Birchwood) 1pm, 4pm, 5:15pm, 6:30pm or 7:45 pm. Please attend one. The financial offer from the employer to date is far below that offered to other public sector workers, and their package includes concessions.  The employer needs to know that this is unacceptable-professional/technical members at the Grace site deserve better treatment.

Grace Hospital Bargaining Update- Employer's offer unacceptable

November 22, 2010
On November 15, all three groups (Grace, DSM, and the Pharmacy Program) met to hear the employer’s financial offer, as a mandate has now been received from government. Most non-monetary issues have been resolved at the negotiations that took place in September and October, and we have agreed to essential services staffing levels in all but two departments (social work and occupational therapy). The employers presented us with a “package” deal to resolve all outstanding items including wages and benefits.

Grace Hospital/ DSM negotiations update

August 25, 2010
Negotiations progressing slowly, more dates set for September. The parties met again on Aug. 24 for the first time since June 28.  This was to accommodate vacation time and allow the Pharmacy Program negotiations to commence and do some catching up to the Grace group. In addition, the union committee was hopeful that the employer would have received some direction on a financial mandate by now. Unfortunately that has not yet been received. The parties have completed almost all non-monetary issues.

Conciliation officer sets dates. Ms. Shannon Pilon was appointed as a conciliation officer on May 21, and the union provided her with a list of available dates to negotiate. Ms. Pilon contacted Mr. Eric Barnaby from Human Resource Services (WRHA) but dates were not immediately forthcoming. Our Local 832 President, Mr. Robert Ziegler also received a call from Mr. Darcy Strutinsky (Director of WRHA Labour Relations Secretariat) about the possibility of having a joint Pharmacy table with MAHCP for this round of bargaining.

There are still several non-monetary items outstanding that the parties have not been able to agree upon. We’ve agreed to essential services staffing levels in some departments but not all. The Pharmacy program will finally commence bargaining with the assistance of a Conciliation Officer on August 9, 2010, and continuing August 11, 13, 16 and 20.
