UFCW 832 congratulates the members of Winnserv on their new three-year agreement, ratified earlier this week at 100%.
This agreement gives the members, who support people with intellectual disabilities, a new float day; a new weekend premium; and a general increase to all other premiums. It also eliminates the previous limit on the number of meals members could share with their clients.
“The members at Winnserv help people live full and meaningful lives by supporting their independent living—which extends beyond Monday to Friday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.,” said Phil Kraychuk, Union Negotiator. “Premium payments for overtime and weekend shifts are an important way to compensate our hardworking members for the additional work required to provide their clients with the care they need, when they need it.”
Winnserv is a non-profit organization that works closely with communities to provide residential supports and services to people with an intellectual disability and their families. UFCW members work in group homes with supported individuals, helping with day-to-day activities ranging from cooking meals to helping with banking.
