Risk Recognition Program

On Tuesday, June 3, 2020, the Manitoba Government announced the Risk Recognition Program, and UFCW encourages you to apply at the link below.

The program combines $120 million of both federal and provincial dollars ($90 million in federal funds and $30 million in provincial) to offer a one-time payment to workers on the frontline of this pandemic.

While the intent of this program was to recognize the risk that frontline workers were and still are taking, this program misses that mark, and there will be many workers who will not be eligible due to the strict criteria that have been put in place.

It’s UFCW 832’s position that our provincial government should have put more money in, and offered this to EVERY worker who was able to continue working on the frontlines of this pandemic.

We do encourage all members who see this to visit the government of Manitoba website and apply if you think you are eligible.

What is it?

It is a one-time payment using combined funds from the federal government and provincial government to low-income workers during COVID-19.

How much is the Payment for?

The MB government stated it would be at least $1,000 but it may be more depending on the number of eligible applicants.

Am I eligible?

Is it tax-free?
