UFCW 832 members at Visions of Independence voted yes to a new, two-year contract with much-deserved wage increases across the scales.
“These members deal with our province’s chronic underfunding of their work every single day,” says Phil Kraychuk, union negotiator. “They worked hard at the bargaining table to reach a fair agreement with their employer that provides a solid boost to their wages.”
The new agreement brings:
- Immediate wage increases between $0.25 to $1.59 per hour, retroactively paid since since August 1, 2022
- An additional $0.30 increase on April 1, 2023 when minimum wage also goes up.
- Increases to all scale rates on October 1, 2023 based on the yet-to-be-announced increase to minimum wage that day. All wage rates will be adjusted based on the difference between the new minimum wage and the start rate at that time.
- Added language on wage increases if there is additional government funding released
UFCW 832 members work in the day programs and group homes provided by Visions of Independence, providing support to the individuals in their care. Visions of Independence has locations in Austin, Carman, Portage la Prairie, Ste. Claude and Winnipeg.
