COVID-19 Update – Monday, August 10, 2020

Over the weekend positive cases of COVID-19 have jumped in the plant, and with today’s new numbers, there are 23 positive cases of COVID-19 at Maple Leaf Brandon.

Earlier today Maple Leaf VP of Labour Relations, Dezi Singh reached out to President Traeger with the hope that we can work together in a more collaborative way, resolve issues in the plant and help make the community safer together.

While our current position does not change, we have agreed and have already had one productive meeting, and we look forward to addressing your concerns and push for increased safeguards.

Feedback to Maple Leaf Management

Maple Leaf Management has been calling you all to get feedback on their operations, and we encourage you all to pick up the phone.  Please be honest with your employer when they call and express your concerns about going to work.

Increased Testing Sites in Brandon

The Union and Maple Leaf Management have been working together to call on the province for increased testing capacity in Brandon, and earlier today the Minister of Health stated that people are Brandon are waiting too long. As a result, the current test site will be opening seven days a week and extending its hours. A second test site in Brandon could also show up at the Keystone Centre as early as Tuesday.

Reminder: The best time to test is about 24 hours after the onset of symptoms. Don’t wait!

If any member at Maple Leaf Brandon has any additional questions, concerns or information, please contact your union rep at 204-727-7131.
