On January 31, UFCW 832’s members at Pembina Consumers Co-op voted yes to their new four-year CBA.
“Our members on the negotiations committee were challenged in the tough round of bargaining but in the end, they secured a great deal for themselves and their co-workers,” says Joe Carreiro, union negotiator.
Highlights of the new agreement include:
- Wage adjustments of 2-14% in year one, and 2% in years two, three and four;
- Increases from 50¢ to $1 for the Sunday Premium;
- Staff discounts in store;
- Added language for vacation scheduling and for ensuring that General Holiday scheduling begins at the bottom of the seniority list.
- Lots of language clean up, converting this group’s previous CBA into a Co-op one.
UFCW 832 has 20 members at the Pembina Consumers Co-op, which is located in Souris and provides a full-service grocery store and liquor vendor to the surrounding area.
