Great New Deal for UFCW 832 Members at Wings of Power

On Thursday, March 24, UFCW 832 members working at Wings of Power in Winnipeg ratified a new three-year collective bargaining agreement (CBA).

The new CBA brings in improvements to wages with 4.75% over the term of the agreement, front-loaded in the first year, so members see the largest increase immediately. Other financial improvements include increases to meal allowances.

Benefits improvements include adding three days to the sick bank that is accumulated over time, an increase in vision benefits, and a commitment from the employer to look into Mental Health training.

“The efforts that our bargaining committee really paid off in getting us the best deal possible,” said Phil Kraychuk, Union Negotiator. “What’s become obvious through this pandemic is all workers need paid sick days, and I’m glad we were able to improve upon the plan that is already in place.”

Wings of Power is a grassroots community and family-based resource centre, with a parent-child focus. Our members work in day programs and group homes located in Pine Falls, Manitoba. They assist supported individuals with day-to-day living at the group homes and provide programing activities in the day program.
