On Wednesday, March 23, UFCW 832 members working at Winnserv in Winnipeg ratified their new three-year collective bargaining agreement (CBA).
The new CBA brings in:
- Improvements to sick time, including an increase to the sick-time bank and removing the cap on sick-time usage for family leave.
- A cell-phone premium
- New, clear language on overseas bereavement was brought in to help any New Canadians working at Winnserv
- A commitment to discuss benefits improvements
- A lump-sum payment and increases to long-service premiums.
“Our Bargaining Committee did really well with this deal,” said Phil Kraychuk. “I hope this is a sign of what we can expect across the Assisted Living territory.”
Winnserv Inc. is a non-profit organization that works closely with communities to provide residential support and services to people with intellectual disability and their families. UFCW members work in group homes with supported individuals, assisting with day-to-day activities.
