UFCW 832 endorses Lonnie Patterson for Brandon East

January 14, 2022 – The executive board of the United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) Local 832 endorses Lonnie Patterson’s NDP candidacy for Brandon East in the upcoming Manitoba general election.

The executive board – made up of 18 union members representing Local 832’s 19,000 Manitoban members – voted to support Lonnie’s candidacy. In addition to her candidacy, Lonnie is currently president of the Manitoba NDP.

“Lonnie has a passion and deep understanding of the Westman region and is a long-time supporter of working families,” says Jeff Traeger, president of UFCW Local 832. “We believe she will listen to and fight for our members in the Brandon area.”

In Brandon, UFCW 832 represents members working at Maple Leaf Foods, Superstore, Safeway, Life’s Journey, Brandon Community Options, McKenzie Seeds, Coke, Pepsi, Securitas and Heartland Livestock.

UFCW 832 consistently supports the Manitoba NDP because of their demonstrated commitment to supporting frontline workers, students and working families.

A date has not been set for the 43rd provincial election but it will take place on or before October 3, 2023.

UFCW Local 832 is a union that represents over 19,000 Manitoban workers in food production, food distribution, warehousing, grocery retail, hospitality, security, personal care and assisted living.
