Carman Co-op Ratification Vote Scheduled for June 4, 2017

After four days of bargaining, the negotiating committees reached a tentative agreement for the union members at Carman Co-op.  The union bargaining committee is unanimously recommending acceptance of this new deal. Accordingly, the union has scheduled a ratification meeting so the members can vote on the tentative agreement.

Carmen Co-op Proposes Concessions

The union and the company met on March 22 and 23 begin negotiations. The parties had discussions and were able to agree on some of the non-monetary items.

Unfortunately, the Co-op has proposed several concessions that could take away or reduce some of the benefits and compensations that the members currently have including such things as deleting some of the premiums—night shopping, night shift, and Sunday. The union bargaining committee has no intentions of agreeing to these concessions.


Carman Co-op Negotiations Begin March 22

Union negotiator Sonia Taylor, along with Carman Co-op members Susan Worms and Jacqueline Labossiere, were originally scheduled to meet with the Co-op on November 29 to commence negotiations for the renewal of the collective agreement.  Unfortunately, the Co-op had to cancel this date due to staff changes in Saskatoon. The company is now ready to start the bargaining proces and the parties will meet on March 22 and 23.  The union is hoping to make significant progress at these meetings, and will update the members as to the status of their negotiations after the March 23 meeting. 


Co-op Gas Bar Negotiations Postponed

November 21, 2016

As previously reported, the Red River Co-op and the Carman Co-op gas bars were to commence negotiations for the renewal of  a new collective agreement at the end of November. Unfortunately, the Co-op had to cancel these due to staff changes in Saskatoon.  As soon as union negotiator Sonia Taylor gets new dates set, she will send an update for the members from the Red River Co-op and Carman Co-op gas bars.

Although both of the collective agreements has expired, they remain in place until a new agreement is negotiated and ratified by the members.


Carman Co-op Negotiations Commence November 29

October 31, 2016

The union and the Co-op will commence negotiations on November 29 for a new collective agreement for the members working at Carman Co-op. At that first meeting, the union negotiating committee, spearheaded by negotiator Sonia Taylor, will exchange proposals with the co-operative.

After the November 29 session, the union will provide Co-op members with information on additional dates and the status of their negotiations.

A meeting was held on January 7, 2009 with the conciliation officer appointed by the Minister of Labour, to deal with the outstanding Union and Company proposals.  A small number of additional issues were resolved, and at this time the only issue remaining is wages.  While the employer did provide us with an amended wage proposal, it was not substantially better than their previous wage proposal.  A meeting to review the company proposal and to vote on whether or not we will be proceeding to a Final Offer Selection Hearing has been scheduled as follows: Date:    Thursday, Febr

Negotiations get underway at the Carman Co-op

Negotiations for a new collective agreement have finally gotten underway.  Your union negotiating committee comprised of Nancy McIntosh, Brenda Norris and UFCW Local 832 negotiator Beatrice Bruske met on September 4, 2008 to review your employer’s proposals.  There are a number of small issues that have been resolved as a result.  Further negotiations have been scheduled for October 29 and 30, 2008.
