An April 16, UFCW 832’s members working at Chalet Malouin voted yes to a new three-year agreement with their employer.
“Our members will be quite happy with this deal,” said Phil Kraychuk. “Our bargaining committee was able to ensure that many introduced proposals resulted in improvements in the workplace.”
Highlights of the new agreement include:
- One float day for part-time workers
- An increase to the footwear allowance
- A large increase to sick-time and sick-time bank
- An increase to the health spending account
- An increase to the RRSP match
- An increase to the long service premium
- Full retro pay back to the expiration date of the contract.
- A 6.5% increase to wages over the term, front-loaded to the start of the agreement to acknowledge the high level of inflation that workers are facing right now.
Chalet Malouin Inc. is a seniors’ retirement home located in St. Malo, Manitoba. UFCW 832 represents the kitchen, laundry, housekeeping and support workers.
