Securitas Guards Secure New Three-Year Agreement

UFCW Local 832 members working at Securitas voted unanimously in favour of a new three-year collective agreement.

During the life of the agreement, the members will receive a six per cent wage increase, two per cent in each year. The contract also contains increases to premiums for vehicle use, strike services, protection services, meal allowance and boot allowance. Guards are now eligible for the boot allowance every 12 months, as opposed to every 18 months.

Manitoba security guards won’t be getting the pay increase they were expecting on October 1. Instead, the Pallister Government is in the middle of pausing legislation that governs Manitoba’s security guards minimum wages — and may be planning to revoke it entirely.

UFCW is holding a rally at the Legislative Building on October 24, 2017 from 11:30 am - 1:00 pm and will be encouraging all security guards union and non-union to attend.

Securitas members ratify new deal

Securitas members working in Winnipeg and Brandon voted 86 per cent in favour of a new collective agreement. While the members have been waiting for a new deal since their existing agreement expired on November 17, 2014 their new deal will take them to November 30, 2017.

Negotiations Begin in December for Securitas

October 28, 2014

The union negotiating committee – Martin Trudel, Robert Knowles and Bruce Peresky – will begin bargaining with the company on December 15, 16, 17 and 18.

During this first round of negotiations, the committees will exchange proposals. The union is proposing changes to some contract language, and improvements to benefits and wages.

Following the completion of talks on December 18, the union will provide an update to the members at Securitas as to where negotiations are at.

UFCW Local 832 Applauds Provincial Government on New Security Guard Legislation

UFCW Local 832 President Jeff Traeger is pleased to hear the new changes for security guards in the province.
“We have been working with the province along with employers to address issues that this industry faces. Better pay and better training will go a long way for our members,” stated Traeger.

Local 832 represents nearly 1,000 security guards throughout the province.

Securitas members ratify new agreement

On Tuesday, March 13, 2012 Securitas members successfully ratified the recommended settlement reached with your employer on February 23, 2012. Members in attendance voted 95 per cent in favor of the new agreement. Therefore, effective March 13, 2012 the new collective agreement is in place. I am currently obtaining final signatures from both the company’s and the union’s negotiations committees.

Negotiation dates set for Securitas Security

From February 21 to February 25, 2012 inclusive, your negotiations committee, consisting of Doug Graves, Scott Broszeit and UFCW Local 832 negotiator, Heather Dezan, will be meeting with your employer to continue negotiations for the renewal of your collective agreement. After these meetings, we will update you as to the progress of negotiations and any future meetings.

Securitas Negotiations update

On December 19 & 20, 2011 your negotiations committee, consisting of Doug Graves, Scott Broszeit and UFCW Local 832 negotiator, Heather Dezan, began negotiations with your employer for the renewal of your collective agreement. During this time, the parties exchanged proposals. Many non-monetary (or non-financial) items were resolved during these talks. The parties will be meeting again in the New Year to continue negotiations.  When dates are set you will be advised. Over 215 new members join local 832

On July 10 a certification vote was held for the employees at Securitas Security voted overwhelmingly in favour of joining the local. A proposal meeting is set for August 10 at the UFCW Local 832 Training Centre, located at 880 Portage Avenue. Meeting times are Noon and 7:00 p.m.
