Red River Co-op Proposal Meetings

June 10, 2020

TO: ALL MEMBERS OF RED RIVER COOPERATIVE LTD.

Dear Red River Co-op Members,

Due to the challenges we are facing with the COVID-19 pandemic the Union is not able to hold our traditional proposal meeting where we all meet to discuss what you want to see in your next Collective Agreement. Instead, we are going to be holding a Telephone Townhall meeting for all members at Red River Co-operatives Ltd.

Red Rive Co-op Negotiations Challenging, to Continue Next Month

June 15, 2018

The Union and the Co-op negotiating committees met on June 11, 12 and 13 for three full days of challenging bargaining. The parties had very open and productive discussions on options that are available to resolve the outstanding issues, which deal with mostly monetary issues. However difficult decisions still need to be made for both bargaining committees.

Red River Co-op Negotiations Challenging But Continuing

May 23, 2018

Negotiations for the new collective agreement for our members at the Red River Co-op began and then stalled because the chief negotiator for the Co-operative left his position with the company. Negotiations were scheduled to resume on May 22 and 23, with the new head Co-operative negotiator.

Red River Co-op Negotiations Lagging

April 20, 2018

Negotiations and the setting of additional meeting dates for the negotiating committees to meet, are proving to be a challenge.

The main reason is that the chief negotiator for the company recently left his position with Federated Co-operatives, which negotiates for the Red River Co-operatives. Therefore his workload, including the Red River Co-op negotiations had to reassigned to another full-time negotiator from Federated Co-op.

In order to allow for this transition, the parties have set May 22 and 23 as the next set of meeting dates to continue bargaining.

The committees have done significant work in resolving many of the non-monetary issues and are now beginning to address monetary issues, including all wage, benefit, vacation, general holiday pay and premium issues.

TO: ALL MEMBERS AT RED RIVER CO-OP STORES

The negotiations process between the Management and Union committees is continuing.  As I indicated in my letter of December 20th, 2017, there are a large number of proposals that both sides have tabled.  Since December 20th, we have met for four days in the past two weeks and have been able to resolve a very significant number of non-monetary issues.
