Workers at RW Consumer Products Ratify New Agreement

UFCW Local 832 members working at RW Packaging Ltd overwhelmingly voted in favour of a new four-year collective agreement.

RW Consumer Negotiations Progress

November 27, 2017

The bargaining committees for RW Consumer Products met on November 22 and 23. The two days proved to be quite successful as the parties were able to agree on the majority of the non-monetary items.

Negotiations towards a new collective agreement for the union members at RW Consumer will resume in the New Year. Tentative dates are set for January 17 and 18. Union negotiator Blake Crothers will keep the members updated as negotiations progress.

Notice to all members at RW Packaging regarding fifth week of vacation.

As you may have heard, your employer has been able to grant a fifth week of vacation to those with 20 years of service. This enhancement is company-wide and begins on January 1, 2011. We have amended the vacation Article 13 of the collective agreement to reflect the change. The union has sent the membership a signed memorandum of agreement and new pages 10, 11, and 12 of the contract for your records. Please attach these new pages to your current collective agreement, should you have any questions or concerns contact UFCW Local 832 negotiator, Michelle Masserey at 786-5055.

Union looks for input from RW Packaging members

In joint labour/management meetings with full-time union representative, Darcel Lecocq, your employer has requested the addition of a classification to the collective agreement. The position being requested is that of full-time shift supervisors for evening and nightshift.  The collective agreement, in Article 24.02 allows the employer to introduce new classifications and as well temporarily establish a rate of pay. The rate of pay is subject to negotiations with the union.

Negotiations update for RW Packaging members

Employer asking for concessions. All monetary items outstanding. Negotiations held on September 18, October 1 and 16th have resulted in progress being made on language but all monetary proposals remain outstanding. The employer has tabled proposal for 10 hour shifts.
