Reh-Fit Negotiations Moving Along

April 3, 2017

The union negotiating committee, comprised of Cindy Armstrong, Devon Pekrul and lead negotiator Martin Trudel, met with the employer on March 23, 29, 30 and 31. This first round of negotiations was extremely productive and the parties were able to settle all non-monetary items.

Future bargaining dates have been scheduled for May 10 and 11 and at that time the committees we will begin to address the monetary items, including wages. Following the completion of these talks, the union will provide the members at Reh-Fit with an update on the status of their negotiations.


Reh-Fit Collective Agreement Expires March 31, 2017

UFCW Local 832 has scheduled proposals meetings for February 7 and 12 for its members working at the Reh-Fit Centre. The existing collective agreement at the Reh-Fit expires on March 31, 2017; however, the union has already begun to prepare for the bargaining of a new agreement.

At the meetings, union negotiator Martin Trudel will obtain ideas from the members on what improvements and/or changes they would like to see in their new contract. Negotiator Trudel will also keep the members updated as the negotiations process moves along.


Negotiations continue at Reh-Fit Centre

Your committee held three meetings with the employer about bargaining. There has been some headway made to deal with the proposals from the members as well as some proposals from the employer. Although there are some changes to the collective agreement that the employer is seeking they have not asked for major concessions from the members. Discussions have been respectful and dialogue has been of a problem solving type so far in the process.

Reh-Fit members ratify new three-year deal

On July 29, UFCW local 832 members at Reh-Fit centre in Winnipeg ratified a new three-year collective agreement by 67 per cent. The new agreement will see wages increase from 3 per cent up to 19 per cent after the vote.  The contract also contains provisions on retroactive pay from April 1. Another significant change in the collective agreement is the move away from giving members a yearly allowance for uniforms to now being provided by the company. The Reh-Fit centre offers cardiac rehabilitation and community fitness, it opened in 1979 and completed a major renovation in 2006.

Agreement reached for members at Reh-Fit Centre

The union is pleased to advise that a tentative agreement has been reached with your employer on the renewal of your collective agreement. All outstanding issues were resolved during negotiations that took place between the parties on June 5, 2008. The new agreement provides for reasonable improvements to existing wages, benefits and contract language. RATIFICATION VOTE SOON The exact wording of your collective agreement is presently being finalized with your employer.

Update for Reh-Fit Members

Negotiations with your employer have been ongoing.The parties have met eight times since March 17, 2008 to negotiate a new collective agreement. However the parties remain a significant distance apart with regard to wage and benefit issues.

A new contract ratified by Local 832 members at the Reh-Fit Centre includes an eight per cent wage increase over the life of the agreement

On Sunday, June 5, the members at the Reh-Fit Centre ratified a new three-year collective agreement by 100 per cent. Members will see an eight per cent wage increase over the life of the contract. A two per cent retroactive wage increase will be effective from April 2005, and another two per cent wage increase will be retroactive from April 2006. On top of the eight per cent another $1 an hour will be given to the Cardiology Lab Co-ordinator and a 50-cent an hour increase for the Front Desk Membership Co-ordinator. Members will also see an increase in their clothing allowance as well.
