Negotiation Preparations are Well Underway at Maple Leaf

Your Maple Leaf Brandon Union Negotiating Committee (see names below) met on Wednesday, June 5th and Thursday, June 6th to prepare for the upcoming negotiations meeting with the Company.  

Your committee reviewed the submissions received from the ballot box suggestions from the plant and all e-mail submissions.  We will be meeting with the Company’s Negotiating Committee on Wednesday, June 26th and Thursday, June 27th to exchange proposals.

The Union has an extensive proposal package and we expect the Company will also have lengthy proposals for us to review.

Forums a success, now on to bargaining

BRANDON – Last Saturday, April 27th, 2019, UFCW 832 staff were once again joined by over 60 members. Shop Stewards and Health & Safety Committee members from Maple Leaf came together at the UFCW Training Centre in Brandon for round two of our Red Meat Forum.  

This was a repeat event from our first Red Meat Forum, with one new announcement, the Bargaining Committee has been finalized for the upcoming negotiations with Maple Leaf:

This past Saturday, April 6th, 2019, UFCW 832 staff were joined by over 60 members, Shop Stewards and Health & Safety Committee members for the first ever Red Meat Forum. This forum was held for members working at Maple leaf in Brandon, with a focus on what is currently happening in the hog industry, where Maple Leaf stands in the marketplace, and a discussion based around what could be done at the Maple Leaf Plant to make life better for members.

Maple Leaf Brandon Members Ratify New Agreement

78 per cent vote in favour of new five-year deal. Information meeting on new agreement and ratification dates set

Series of information meetings will be held on January 3. Ratification date will be January 4 Members at Maple Leaf in Brandon will have a series of information meetings on January 3 at the Keystone Centre in Brandon to hear details of their new collective agreement. Much like how the proposal meetings were, they will be broken up into four languages English, Spanish, Ulkranian and Mandarin 9:00am Mandarin 12:00pm English 3:30pm Ukrainian 6:00pm Spanish Members will then cast their votes for the new agreement on January 4.

Tentative deal reached at Maple Leaf Brandon

Negotiations with Maple Leaf and UFCW Local 832 went into the early hours of Friday, November 20 as both sides came to a tentative deal. Terms of the agreement have yet to be disclosed as the union is arranging to have a ratification vote set. Once a date is set notices will be posted on the website and throughout the plant on the times and locations.
