Impact Bargaining Continues This Month

The union and the company negotiating committees met on December 11, 2017. During that round of bargaining, the union presented Impact Security Group with its proposals ‎regarding improvements to contract language, benefits and wage increases the members would like to see in their new collective agreement.

Negotiations are scheduled to continue on January 18. The union negotiating committee, lead by negotiator Martin Trudel, is hopeful that the remaining non-monetary items will be addressed.

Impact Security Negotiations Start December 11

During this first round of bargaining, the negotiating committees will exchange proposals regarding changes they would like to see to the current collective agreement protecting the guards at Impact Security.

Talks will continue on December 12 and following the completion of this round of bargaining, union negotiator Martin Trudel will provided an update as to the status of these discussions.

Impact Group Readies for Negotiations

The current collective agreement for the security guards at Impact Security expires on December 31, 2017. As part of the preparation process, the union would like to obtain ideas from the guards on what improvements they would like to see negotiated into the new contract.

Union negotiator Martin Trudel, who will spearhead these negotiations, has scheduled proposals meetings to give the security officers from Impact the opportunity to bring their ideas forward. Once bargaining dates have been scheduled negotiator Trudel will provide updates as talks progress.

Manitoba Security Guards facing a surprise wage-freeze by Pallister Government

Manitoba security guards won’t be getting the pay increase they were expecting on October 1. Instead, the Pallister Government is in the middle of pausing legislation that governs Manitoba’s security guards minimum wages — and may be planning to revoke it entirely.

UFCW is holding a rally at the Legislative Building on October 24, 2017 from 11:30 am - 1:00 pm and will be encouraging all security guards union and non-union to attend.

Unfortunately this is not the first time this has happened and the company was warned last time that they would be responsible for any service charges members occurred for late and non-payment. 70 Impact Security guards are now members of UFCW Local 832

A vote held recently by the Manitoba Labour Board has resulted in the 70 plus employees of Impact Security becoming members of UFCW Local 832. The vote was held on March 24, 2006, but the ballots were not counted until the labour board conducted an audit of how many employees were employed at Impact Security at the time of the vote.
