Tentative Agreement Reached at The Pas IGA

The union and the company negotiating committees reached a tentative deal on a new collective agreement for the members working at The Pas IGA. As such, the union scheduled a ratification vote for Sunday, August 21. At the August 21 meeting, the union will review the full details of the settlement with the membership prior to the vote.

Negotiations Resume at The Pas IGA

Negotiations for the renewal of the collective agreement for members working at The Pas IGA will resume on April 27 and continue until April 29. The union bargaining committee?negotiator Marie Buchan, Cindy Greasley and Mike McShane?is hopeful that a tentative agreement will be reached during this set of talks.

Union members working at The Pas IGA will be updated on the status of their negotiations after the April 29 meeting.

The Pas IGA Negotiations On Hold Until April

January 12, 2016

Due to unforeseen circumstances the negotiating meetings set for January have had to be rescheduled. The new dates scheduled to continue bargaining towards a new collective agreement for union members working at The Pas IGA are April 4 and 6.

The union will continue to keep its members up-to-date on the outcome of negotiations as the process resumes. 

Bargaining Continues at The Pas IGA

During the last two rounds of bargaining, in October and November, the negotiating committees for the union and the company were able to deal with the majority of the non-monetary proposals. The parties have set additional dates for January 18 and 20, 2016.

The union negotiating committee—led by negotiator Marie Buchan and assisted by Mike McShane, Cindy Greasley and northern rep JP Petit—will start the monetary discussions in the New Year and is hopeful it will reach a tentative agreement for the members at The Pas IGA to vote on.

UFCW Local 832 prepares to assist displaced members

Late today Sobeys announced that they will be closing five of their Manitoba retail stores as well as a warehouse in Thompson whose workers are represented by UFCW Local 832. The closures are part of their Canada wide restructuring following last years’ purchase of Safeway.

The Thompson Cash and Carry warehouse members were notified Monday that the distribution centre would be closing its doors for good on July 18, 2014.

Conciliation begins for The Pas, IGA

Your bargaining committee met briefly with the employer on May 23, 2008. The employer at this meeting stated that they were going to proceed to Final Offer Selection. Your bargaining committee suggested that we apply for conciliation prior to Final Offer Selection.
