Strike ends at Aryzta

UFCW Local 832 members will return to work on Monday,  May 14. The members ratified a new contract by 75% with Aryzta, ending the two-week strike.

"Our members stood up for themselves to gain a better livelihood," said Jeff Traeger, President of UFCW Local 832. "I'd like to personally thank all those who came out to show their support on the picket line."

The new agreement will give the members 1.8% retro pay, paid lunches and an additional increases of 3.5% in wages over the remaining 3.5 years of the contract.


Workers at Aryzta vote to strike

April 29, 2018

On Sunday, April 29, the UFCW Local 832 members working at Aryzta finished ratification meetings that took place over the weekend and voted 60 percent to reject the company’s final offer and go on strike. Workers will begin walking the picket line effective 8 a.m., Monday, April 30.

Workers at Aryzta need to report to the strike trailer at 8 a.m. where they will be given strike vests, and strike rules will be explained.


Negotiations Ongoing with Aryzta

September 20, 2017

On September 19, the union and company bargaining committees met with a government appointed conciliation officer in an effort to reach a resolution on some of the outstanding items, which include non-monetary and monetary proposals.

Additional bargaining dates are required and once more dates have been scheduled, the union will notify the members at Aryzta and update them as negotiations progress.


Aryzta Negotiations Continue

September 5, 2017

The union negotiating committee — lead by negotiator Martin Trudel, Jerich Belmonte, Teofilo (Phil) Cayetano, Noralinda Sayuno, and Geoff Bergen — will continue bargaining with the assistance of a government appointed conciliation officer.

During conciliation on September 19 and 20, the parties will be addressing the remaining outstanding items, including monetary proposals. The goal is to have the union and the employer come to a solution that is mutually beneficial to all.


Aryzta Bargaining Begins

February 22, 2017

On February 21, the union negotiating committee comprised Jerich Belmonte, Jesus Catacutan, Teofilo (Phil) Cayetano, Noralinda Sayuno, union rep Geoff Bergen and union negotiator Martin Trudel met with the company to exchange proposals.

Because of scheduling conflicts, the parties will not meet again until April 21, with more bargaining dates scheduled for April 24, May 3, 4, 16, 17, 30 and 31, and two days in June.

The union will keep its members at Aryzta as negotiations progress.


Negotiations to Start in the New Year at Aryzta

December 1, 2016

Union negotiator Martin Trudel assisted by members Noralinda Sayuno, Jesus Catacutan, Jerich Belmonte and Phil Cayetano, will begin talks with the company on the renewal of the collective agreement.

UFCW Local 832 represents approximately 160 workers at Aryzta, formerly Gourmet Bakers. Once the first set of bargaining dates are confirmed and negotiations are underway, the union will keep its members updated and informed.


Tentative agreement reached at Gourmet Baker

Negotiations for the renewal of your collective agreement have now been set to take place on December 11, 12, 17, 18 and 19, 2007 and on January 7, 8, 9, 21, 22 and 23, 2008.  Your Union is hopeful that a fair agreement and reasonable agreement will be reached between the parties during these 11 days of negotiations.
