New Deal at General Mills

UFCW Local 832 members working at General Mills in Winnipeg ratified a new collective agreement on April 7, 2019.

The members saw improvements to vacation language, job postings and one hundred percent coverage from an expanded list for approved safety footwear. Members will see their wages rise to $1.70 per hour over the next four years. Wage increases were retroactive to November 1, 2018. Also new language was negotiated for an improved process should it change back to ten or tweleve hour shifts.”


Negotiations Resume at General Mills After 1-Year Extension

October 16, 2014

The union and the company negotiating committees for General Mills met during the week of October 14 and were able to agree on all of the non-monetary issues. Negotiations to deal with the remaining outstanding proposals (monetary) will resume in November.

Local 832 will update the members at General Mills, again, after the November meetings.


Bargaining underway at General Mills

The union negotiating committee for General Mills comprised of Paul Dutra, Rosemarie Fleury, Mike Moiny and UFCW Local 832 negotiator, Marie Buchan exchanged proposals with the company on Thursday, October 31, 2013. Both parties have a number of proposals and a number of issues that need to be looked at, including changes to the existing contract language, pension, benefits and wages. 


Ratification vote set for General Mills members

Members will hear details of new agreement on March 21. As a follow-up to our notice of March 1, 2010, a tentative agreement has been reached with your employer on the renewal of your Collective Agreement.

General Mills negotiations update

February 3, 2010
Some progress made on monetary issues, more dates set. Negotiations for a new collective agreement with General Mills continued on January 28 & 29, 2010.  During this time, progress was made against the monetary items.  Key issues remaining to be addressed include pension, wages, benefits and banked time which are all critical to both parties and as such will be more difficult and require more time to resolve. The parties will be meeting again February 22 to 26, 2010.  We will keep you up to date of further progress and any important membership meetings following

General Mills negotiations update

Negotiations for a new collective agreement with General Mills began on November 30th to December 4th following a proposal exchange on November 17.  A significant number of proposals were resolved including many key language items.  A number of important proposals remain outstanding including all monetary proposals on wages, benefits and pension. The parties will meet again in the New Year from January 11 to 15 inclusive, and we will inform you of further progress at that time.
