Ron Allard

For over 12 years Ron Allard was a member of UFCW Local 832 at SYSCO Food Services in Winnipeg. Ron was very active with the union serving for six years as a shop steward, four of those years as chief shop steward. Ron also sat on the negotiation committee during the 2002 negotiations with Sysco. In 2005, he assisted with the picket line at Gourmet Baker. Ron assisted the Local as a relief rep and served as a Special Projects Union Representative (SPUR) working on organizing campaigns for UFCW. In 2006, UFCW hired Ron as a relief union representative for the retail sector. By the summer of 2006, Ron was hired on as a full-time union representative.

Brenda Brown

Brenda Brown was a UFCW member working at Midwest Food Products in Carberry for 20 years. That workplace was part of the former Local 798, which merged with UFCW Local 832 in early 2003. For 12 of the 20 years Brenda worked at Midwest, she was a shop steward. She also served on the plant's health and safety committee, and for a short time was co-chair of the Local 798 executive board. UFCW Local 832 hired Brenda to work out of the UFCW office in Brandon and is currently assigned to assist members who work at Maple Leaf Foods and Bunge Canada.

Kim Ferris

Kim was a member of UFCW Local 832 at Integrated Messaging, Incorporated (IMI). Kim was an active shop steward at IMI since 1999. She also served as co-Chair for her workplace health and safety committee, and sat on the negotiations committee.  In 2003, Kim began serving as a Special Projects Union Representative (SPUR) working on the Walmart campaign, and helped in various other organizing campaigns and also served as a relief rep for the Local in various territories. In early 2007, Kim was appointed as Chair of the Human Rights Committee for the Manitoba Federation of Labour. In the summer of 2007, Kim was hired at the Local full time as a resource centre representative. Then in 2008, Kim was hired as a full-time union representative.

Sandy Forcier

For nearly 15 years, Sandy Forcier was a member of UFCW Local 832 at Jack Forgan Meats, J.M. Schneiders, and Maple Leaf Meats. He was very active in the union, most notably in 1997, when he served as a picket captain during an 11-week strike at Jack Forgan. Sandy assisted members as assistant chief shop steward at J.M. Schneiders and at Maple Leaf Meats after that company purchased the Schneiders' plant. Sandy was also active on union negotiating committees at both Schneiders and Maple Leaf, a joint labour committee, and job evaluation committee. Sandy first worked as a relieving union representative for UFCW Local 832 in 2003, serving members in the garment, retail, service and industrial sectors. He became a full-time representative in March, 2004.

Roberta Hoogervorst

Roberta Hoogervorst joined the staff of UFCW Local 832 in January of 2013. Before that she worked at Sobeys IGA for 20 years as well as did relief work for the Local as needed. Being a union member while working at IGA, and at Westfair prior to that, gives Roberta the experience of relating to the needs of the membership. She was not only a member, she was also a union activist and served as a shop steward and sat on the negotiating and health and safety committees. Roberta is looking forward to continuing to assist the members of Local 832 in her new position of union representative.

Roberta attended the University of Manitoba and studied fine arts. She is a freelance artist and finds it very relaxing.

Wendy Lundy

Wendy Lundy joined the staff of UFCW Local 832 in the fall of 2006. Before that, she was the assistant chief steward at the McCain's plant in Carberry where she worked as a quality assurance operator for over 20 years. Prior to 2006, Wendy had done relief rep work in the Brandon office as well as sat on the Local's executive board for over four years.

J.P. Petit

J.P. Petit started working at Old Dutch Foods in October 1989. He quickly became involved in Local 832 as a shop steward and as a health and safety committee member. J.P. also sat on the union negotiating committee during several rounds of negotiations. In March 2002, J.P. joined the SPUR team for UFCW Local 832 and worked on various organizing drives throughout Manitoba. Then in February 2012, he was hired as a full-time union representative. J.P. is an avid runner, participating in several marathons as well as ultra marathons.

Sharon Grehan

Sharon Grehan was hired as a relief representative in 2014. Before doing union rep work, Sharon had worked for the Local since 2000 as a support staff doing a variety of roles. Sharon has a strong understanding of collective agreements and will continue her learning working in all the territories in Winnipeg as a union representative.

Morag Stewart

Morag has been a UFCW member since 1978 when she started working at the Superstore in Brandon. A dedicated shop steward, Morag spent a lot of her time there assisting her co-workers and ensuring the collective agreement was adhered to. Morag was also part of three negotiating committees responsible for bargaining many of the hard fought gains in the Loblaw's agreement.
Before Morag was hired as a full-time staff rep for Local 832, she was an active vice-president on the Local's executive board for 17 years.

Carmela Abraham

Carmela began her career in 1982 when she was hired at St. Boniface Hospital. She became a member of UFCW Local in 1992. Carmela has held several classifications during her employment there—healthcare aide, patient porter, housekeeping and laundry attendant. In 2009, she started working as a union representative or UFCW Local 1869, and is now Local 832’s health care representative. Carmela currently sits on the Manitoba Council of Health Care Unions and the Advisory Group Violence Prevention for Health Care Workers. Her experience in health care is notable and will benefit union members working in this sector.
