Three more positive cases of COVID-19 at Maple Leaf Brandon

Late last night (Wednesday, August 5), the Union was made aware of three more positive-cases of COVID-19 among non-production unionized employees.

“UFCW 832 is now calling for Maple Leaf in Brandon to cease production until Monday, August 10, at the earliest. Until we have more results from the outstanding tests among our members at Maple Leaf,” stated Jeff Traeger, President of UFCW Local 832.

So far, Maple Leaf does not agree with the Union’s position and has informed the Union that they will be remaining open and continuing with production as usual.

UFCW 832 continues to be in discussion with Maple Leaf management and will continue to push for a plant closure to keep our members safe.

UFCW 832 represents nearly 2000 members working at the Brandon pork processing plant.
