Thompson Homeless Shelter Ratifies New Agreement

December 12, 2019

On December 9, 2019, the outreach workers at Thompson Homeless Shelter Inc. ratified a new collective agreement by 80%.

As a result, the Thompson workers have earned wage increases, paid training opportunities, and four new float days. The new collective agreement also cleans up language from the previous collective agreement.

“We’re proud of what we’ve been able to accomplish for a group of extremely hardworking members. Now we hope they get to enjoy this Christmas, knowing that the wage increase they earned will make life easier for their families,” said Phil Kraychuk, Union Negotiator.

Thompson Homeless Shelter Inc. provides a safe place for up to 24 clients per night through the Canadian Mental Health Association. UFCW Local 832 represents the Shelter Outreach Workers.
