Members at MNU Ratify New Collective Agreement

September 27, 2018

UFCW 832 union members working at MNU ratified a new four-year collective agreement by 82 per cent.

During the life of the agreement, wages will increase by 6.5 per cent, with the first increase retroactive to October 1, 2017. The new contract also contains improvements to bereavement leave, as well as new wording adding Employment Standards leaves of absence.

“There were a few hiccups but all-in-all this is a very good agreement and we were able to include a lot of language cleanup this time around,” said union negotiator Sonia Taylor.

The Manitoba Nurses' Union (MNU) protects and support nurses through collective bargaining, enforcing collective agreements, advocating for both nurses and their patients, and providing educational opportunities for their membership. UFCW Local 832 represents the 20 staff members who work at the MNU.
