Red River Co-op Negotiations Challenging But Continuing

May 23, 2018

Negotiations for the new collective agreement for our members at the Red River Co-op began and then stalled because the chief negotiator for the Co-operative left his position with the company. Negotiations were scheduled to resume on May 22 and 23, with the new head Co-operative negotiator.

Unfortunately, the new Co-op negotiator has also given his notice and will be leaving the Co-operatives at the end of May.  Therefore, he was not available to meet, but the rest of the Co-operative’s committee did meet with the union’s negotiating committee. The parties had productive discussions and have now almost completed all of the non-monetary proposals.

The management committee has hired legal counsel to assist in finalizing negotiations and the parties are scheduled to meet on June 11, 12 and 13. The union is anticipating to receive a full monetary proposal from the employer, however, will provide a further update at that time.
