Workers at RW Consumer Products Ratify New Agreement

May 2, 2018

UFCW Local 832 members working at RW Packaging Ltd overwhelmingly voted in favour of a new four-year collective agreement.

The new contract includes the following gains:

  • Wage increases of between $1.35 to $1.65 an hour more for the life of the agreement.
  • Reclassification of job levels, resulting in a significant amount of the workers moving to the new level 2, which increased their hourly wage with retropay to October 1, 2017.
  • Evening and night shift premiums increased to 75-cents and $1 per hour respectively
  • Carry over of sick days
  • Employees now receive four weeks vacation after 15 years, instead of 20
  • Reduced the sunset clause to 30 months, down from 36 months.

“The reclassification of job levels was great for the members. With these employees moving into the new level 2, it means about $2,000 in their pockets,” stated lead union negotiator Blake Crothers.
