BCO Members Support New Agreement

April 26, 2018

On April 23, the UFCW members working at the Brandon Community Options (BCO) ratified their new collective agreement by 100 per cent.

It is a 2-year contract, which is in line with all the other non-profit agencies in the Province. The main reason for going with a short-term contract is due to the uncertainty of the affects of Bill 28. The members at BCO did receive an increase to their sick leave and bereavement, as well as a new vacation scheduling timeline.

“We concentrated on cleaning up a lot of the previous language in the agreement,” stated union negotiator Martin Trudel. “I commend the members for their understanding of the situation and we are anxious for the finalization look forward to getting back to the table in a couple of years.”

Brandon Community Options Inc. is an ACL that assists vulnerable people in the area and also has a home in Glenboro. There are 101 members currently working there. They support people with life skills such as shopping, working in the community or preparing meals to help them live in the community.
