Congratulations on 25 years

March 8, 2018

Not only is today International Women's Day, but today also marks the 25th anniversary of our Secretary-Treasurer Bea Bruske.

Bea first became intensively involved in union activities during the Westfair strike of 1987. Following the strike, Bea became shop steward, served on the health and safety committee, and was elected as a vice-president to the Local's executive board.

In 1993, Bea joined the union's staff as a full-time union representative and has not slowed down since then. She has served on multiple committees and boards for the Manitoba Federation of Labour, the Manitoba Labour Board and UFCW, both here in Manitoba and Nationally. Bea made history in 2011, when she was elected as secretary-treasurer for the Local, making her the first woman elected to a senior leadership role at Local 832.

"Bea has been a consistent and active force in the labour movement," says President Jeff Traeger. "We are fortunate that we have such a driven, dedicated and strong woman in a leadership position here at the Local."

Congratulations go out to Bea Bruske on 25 years with Local 832.
