Impact Security Negotiations Start December 11

November 27, 2017

During this first round of bargaining, the negotiating committees will exchange proposals regarding changes they would like to see to the current collective agreement protecting the guards at Impact Security.

Talks will continue on December 12 and following the completion of this round of bargaining, union negotiator Martin Trudel will provided an update as to the status of these discussions.

RW Consumer Negotiations Progress

November 27, 2017

The bargaining committees for RW Consumer Products met on November 22 and 23. The two days proved to be quite successful as the parties were able to agree on the majority of the non-monetary items.

Negotiations towards a new collective agreement for the union members at RW Consumer will resume in the New Year. Tentative dates are set for January 17 and 18. Union negotiator Blake Crothers will keep the members updated as negotiations progress.

Arctic Co-op Members Approve New Six-Year Agreement

November 14, 2017

On November 8, UFCW Local 832 members working at Arctic Co-op voted in favour a new six-year agreement.

During the life of the agreement workers’ wages will increase by 13.5 per cent. In addition to the 13.5 per cent wage increases, hourly employees also received a 25¢ per hour pay hike. These increases were retroactive to July 1, 2017. At date of ratification, union members also received a $1,000 lump sum payment.

“The union bargaining committee unanimously recommended acceptance of this agreement,” said lead union negotiator Sonia Taylor.

Celebrations Negotiations Set to Resume

The bargaining committees for the union and the employer will resume talks in the month of December. Union negotiator Blake Crothers will provide a further update after the next round of negotiations.

Members at Pepsi Brandon Unanimous on 3-Year Deal

November 1, 2017

UFCW members working at the Pepsi Brandon plant voted 100 per cent in favour of their new collective agreement. The employees will see their wages increase by $1.35 per hour over the next three years, which along with the Winnipeg plant, is the highest in Canada. Plus, at date of ratification, each member also received a $500 signing bonus.

The union negotiating committee was also successful in obtaining increases to the safety footwear allowance, bereavement leave, as well as vacation payout for up to two weeks.

The Executive Board Elections Concluded

October 31, 2017


UFCW Local 832 members are pleased with the existing executive board and the direction that the Local is heading under the leadership of President Jeff Traeger and Secretary-Treasurer Beatrice Bruske. 

Of the 17 vice-presidents positions, there were eight challenged positions that required elections. Ballots were counted on October 30th.
