Tentative Agreement Reached at Federated Co-op Warehouse

The union has reached a tentative agreement for the 130 members working at Federated Co-op Warehouse in Winnipeg. A meeting is scheduled for Friday, September 22 at 6pm at the training centre. Nominations will also take place for shop stewards with voting to take place in November.

Don't Forget about UFCW Local 832 Youth Meeting

The UFCW Local 832 Youth Committee will be holding a meeting at the Winnipeg union office on September 28 at 6 pm. Pizza and refreshments will be provided. The agenda for this meeting is to discuss the upcoming youth conference in the spring of 2007 and to discuss the local’s youth committee and how it should be structured. Grace Hospital Negotiations Update

September 7, 2006

Over the summer months, your union negotiating committee met with the Grace Hospital management committee for two days of bargaining in July.  The hospital withdrew a number of their non monetary proposals, and in addition, some additional non monetary items were agreed to.

Krown Produce Ratifies New Agreement

Members at Krown Produce ratifed a new three-year agreement by 83.3% on Saturday August 19. Members will see a minimum 2% wage increase in each year of the agreement with the first increase retro active to June 1, 2006.

North of 53 Co-op in Flin Flon ratify contract

August 11, 2006

On August 10 members at the North of 53 Co-op in Flin Flon voted 89% in favour of extending their contract till December 31, 2008 and a 10% wage increase. Upon ratification, members will receive a 2.5% increase, they will receive an additional increase effective May 29, 2007 and the final 5% on May 29, 2008. During last round of negotiations members took a 10% rollback largely due to the decline in shoppers coming through the store because of the new Wal-Mart in town. Over $30,000 in Scholarships Awarded

On August 10, young members of UFCW Local 832 along with family and friends attended the scholarship ceremony at the UFCW Training Centre. The annual event was established years ago to award members who want to further their education in college or university.

New Price for Golf Tournament

UFCW Local 832 President Robert Ziegler has announced today that the entry fee for UFCW Local 832 members wanting to participate in this years Drive for a Cure Golf Tournament for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society has been reduced to $100 per member. The event takes place August 26 at Quarry Oaks and golfers have a chance at winning a 2006 Chevrolet Impala, tickets to this years Grey Cup, a set of Callaway golf clubs along with lots of other great prizes. Arbitrator Rules on New Maple Leaf Agreement

July 18, 2006

On July18 the union received the arbitrator’s award on all the outstanding issues in the negotiations with Maple Leaf Consumer Foods and UFCW Local 832. Over the course of 17 bargaining sessions between the parties, they where at a standstill in regards to wages and pension benefits as well as other issues. Members will see increases between 95 cents to $1.40 an hour over the three year collective agreement with the first increase retroactive to January 1, 2006.
