Notice to all Members at Faneuil

Any members who were denied general holiday pay for Thanksgiving are encouraged to contact their shop steward or Darcel Lecocq your union rep at 786-5055 immediately. Members are reminded to photocopy their pay stub and explanation by the company. A grievance has been filed but information is required to assure the grievance process proceeds as quickly and accurately as possible.

Additional negotiations were held September 1st (via telephone) then on September 27th, 28th, and 29th, October 17th, 18th, and 19th at conciliation services. On September 29th negotiations ended abruptly within half an hour of starting, when the company negotiator had an outburst of anger. Such behavior is unacceptable. Message to Members regarding Maple Leaf Restructuring Maple Leaf recently announced the restructuring of its pork business due to the impact of the rising Canadian dollar. The company has indicated that it will go from 7 million to 4 million hogs per year and will be focusing its operations more in Manitoba. The union is pleased to advise that a tentative agreement has been reached with Dauphin Consumer Co-op on the renewal of your Collective Agreement.  All outstanding issues were resolved during negotiations that took place between the parties on September 27, 2006.   The new Agreement provides for reasonable improvements to existing wages, benefits and contract language. Federated Co-op Ratifies New Agreement

September 25, 2006

On September 22, members of UFCW Local 832 employed at the Federated Co-op warehouse in Winnipeg ratified a new five-year collective agreement by 86 per cent. Over the life of this agreement, employees will see wages increases from about $1.60 to $1.80 per hour. Maintenance workers will see a 75-cent an hour increase effective immediately. The boot allowance and freezer premiums will also go up in 2008. Language covering compassionate care leave is now included in the agreement.
