New Four-Year Deal Reached at Grace Hospital

August 17, 2007

UFCW Local 832 members at the Grace Hospital, including laboratory employees under Diagnostic Services of Manitoba (DSM) umbrella, ratified a new four-year deal by 82 per cent. All employees covered by the new union agreement will receive a 2.5 per cent wage increase retroactive to April 1, 2006, with a further increase of 2.5 per cent retroactive to April 1. Two more wages hikes of 2.5 per cent and 2. 9 per cent are scheduled for April 1, 2008 and April 1, 2009 respectively. Garda Cancels Negotiations

August 13, 2007

Local 832 wants to inform the members working for Garda Security that the company has recently cancelled negotiation meetings for August 14-16. Now the union is in the process of trying to schedule new dates with Garda. The union will also be applying to the Minister of Labour for conciliation in hopes of getting the company back to the table. As soon as new dates are set the union will notify the members.

Inspyre Solutions ratify new agreement

August 7, 2007

On Tuesday, August 7 members working at Inspyre Solutions the former Fanueil Group ratified a new three-year agreement by 94%. The new collective agreement provides a signing bonus of $250 for full-time and $150 for part-time members who are at the top end of the wage scale. For those not at top rate, they receive 30 cents an hour in their first year and 35 cents increase in the second year. There is a wage re-opener clause in the second and third year of the agreement. New Agreement Reached at Maples IGA

July 31, 2007

On July 31, members of UFCW Local 832 employed at Maples IGA in Winnipeg voted overwhelmingly in favour of a new three-year collective agreement. The new agreement sees strong improvements in wages with a three per cent increase to the start and top rates and 2.5 percent on the rest of the rates. Wages will reach $16.85 an hour for a Sales Service Clerk (cashier) and $19.77 an hour for Bakers, Meat Cutters and Receivers by 2009. Department changes at Westfair

The union has just been made aware that Westfair will be altering departments tentatively set for July 29. The changes are as follows:

  • BBQ’s and Patios will move into Housewares from Leisure.
  • Seasonal and Homes & Office will move to Housewares.
  • Hardware and Auto to Leisure from Home & Garden.

Notice to all Westfair Stewards

It has been brought to the Union’s attention that in approximately 2 weeks the hours of operations at all Superstores in Manitoba are changing. The hours are changing from the current hours of operation of 9:00 A.M. – 10:00 P.M. to new hours of 8:00 A.M. – 11:00 P.M.
