Negotiations Update for Premier Horticulture

Dear Member: Re: Employer Delaying Meeting Re Team Productivity Incentives. After an initial meeting to discuss the team productivity incentives the Employer has cancelled subsequent meetings, the latest of which was scheduled for September 11th, 2007. Negotiations Update for all Garda Members

September 24, 2007

Dates for the continuation of negotiations have been set with your employer.   As you may recall, the Union applied to the Minister of Labour to have a conciliation officer appointed to assist the parties in reaching an agreement.  The Conciliation Officer has scheduled two and a half days of negotiations for October 10, 11 and 12th. The union hopes to make major progress at this next round of bargaining, in the event that this does not occur, the committee will schedule employee negotiation update meetings and or strike vote meetings shortly thereafter. Members at Maple Leaf Lagimodiere ratify extended deal.

September 19, 2007

Members working at Maple Leaf Foods Lagimodiere voted 89 per cent in favour of extending their collective agreement until 2011. The extended deal will see members receive wage increases from 25 cents to 45 cents per hour in each of the next four years. Members will also see improvements in their pension plan taking effect in January 2008. With the new 550 jobs being created at the Lagimodiere plant, members will be allowed to post for the new jobs giving them a further pay raise. A tentative agreement has been reached for the members at Maple Leaf Lagimodiere. Two meetings have been scheduled to discuss the proposed agreement and answer any questions and then members will vote on the agreement. The Manitoba Women's Advisory Council will be holding a Take Back the Night March & Rally Speakers will begin at 6:00pm at 450 Broadway, march will commence going west toward Osbourne Street and turning left onto Furby, then proceeding along Furby to Wolseley. Turn right on Wolseley ending at Wolseley Family Place, 691 Wolseley Avenue. Members at Warman Road vote No for opening collective agreement

August 26, 2007

A meeting was held tonight for members at Maple Leaf Warman Road on allowing the union to open up negotiations early because of the company's proposed restructuring. Of the over 600 members working at Warman Road, 302 of those attended the meeting. The company met with the union and shop stewards on August 21 to outline their proposed changes of bringing ham operations to Warman Road as the current duties will be moved to the Brandon facility in September 2009. Take Care Services Join UFCW

August 22, 2007

The UFCW Local 832 was notified this week that it was successful in organizing the members at Take Care Support Services in Winnipeg. Over 40 workers are now members of the local and arrangements are being made to establish a meeting with all the staff to discuss the negotiation process and to elect a negotiation committee. Take Care Support Services provide transportation to people coming into Winnipeg from Indian Reservations in Manitoba. Presently those unionized are the drivers and dispatchers.
