Support Sector Meet and Greet

January 1, 2018

You're invited to a Dinner Meet and Greet with your union representative, Geoff Bergen.

Working in the support sector means working in homes and sometimes challenging environments. It also means as your union representative, visiting you to find out any workplace issues or concerns is difficult. So, to make sure we can give you the proper support, we are trying new ways to connect with you. Which is why I'm hosting a few events at Canad Inns around Wpg, so you can pick the time and location that's most convenient for you.

December 13, 2017

Today, Sobeys announced that as part of a five-year plan, they would be converting almost 65 of its Safeway and Sobeys stores, in western Canada, to its discount chain, FreshCo.

President Jeff Traeger stated, "Since Sobeys purchased the Safeway brand, the stores have been understocked, understaffed and underserviced. Our biggest concern with this announcement is that Sobeys will be trying to fix its mess by reducing labour costs."...
