IKWE Negotiations Scheduled for December 5

November 27, 2018

The union negotiating committee, led by Sonia Taylor and assisted by Tara Campbell-Stacey and Sheila Sinclair, will be exchanging proposals with the IKWE committee on December 5, 2018.

The collective agreement for the members working at IKWE expired on March 31, however, the current agreement remains in place until a new agreement has been reached. The union bargaining committee will be requesting retroactive pay on any monetary increases negotiated.

VOI Members Accept New 2-Year Agreement

October 29, 2018

UFCW Local 832 at Vision of Independence (VOI) ratified a new two-year collective agreement by 85 per cent.

Due to the restrictions caused by the current government’s Wage Enhancement Fund in the non-profit sector, the union bargaining committee had to focus on enhancing various premiums in order to provide financial gains for our members.  Some of these gains include:

Security Guards at SRG Ratify New Agreement

October 24, 2018

UFCW Local 832 union members working at SRG Security Resources Group Inc. ratified a new three-year collective agreement.

During the life of the agreement, the security guards will see their wages increase by 35-cents per hours. The members also receive a one-time lump sum payment in year one of the contract. The new agreement also contains an increase to the safety footwear allowance, as well as additional paid educating and time for site training.

Diageo Negotiations Scheduled to Begin

October 23, 2018

The union committee, led by Secretary-Treasurer Beatrice Bruske and assisted by union rep Phil Kraychuk and members Corey Kowalski and Steve Lebel, will be meeting with the company to exchange proposals and begin bargaining on December 6, 2018. Secretary-Treasurer Bruske will be providing regular updates as negotiations progress.

Viterra Negotiations Resume Next Month

October 19, 2018

The union negotiating committee, consisting of head negotiator Blake Crothers, Tyler Ledoux, Stephane Lemoine, and Ryan Kenny, met with the company October 3, 4, and 5 to commence the bargaining of their first contract. The tone of negotiations was good and the parties were able to resolve a number of the non-monetary items. Workers at Loblaw Ratify New Contract

On Sunday, October 14, 2018, UFCW Local 832 members working for Loblaw at Superstore, Extra Foods, and No Frills all across Manitoba ratified a new five-year collective agreement with Loblaw.

Tentative agreement reached with Loblaw

Members at MNU Ratify New Collective Agreement

September 27, 2018

UFCW 832 union members working at MNU ratified a new four-year collective agreement by 82 per cent.

During the life of the agreement, wages will increase by 6.5 per cent, with the first increase retroactive to October 1, 2017. The new contract also contains improvements to bereavement leave, as well as new wording adding Employment Standards leaves of absence.
