The Executive Board Elections Concluded

October 31, 2017


UFCW Local 832 members are pleased with the existing executive board and the direction that the Local is heading under the leadership of President Jeff Traeger and Secretary-Treasurer Beatrice Bruske. 

Of the 17 vice-presidents positions, there were eight challenged positions that required elections. Ballots were counted on October 30th.

Proposals Meeting Scheduled for Gillam Co-op Members

Part of the bargaining process is for the union to get ideas from the members as to what they would like to see changed in their new collective agreement. The current agreement for the Gillam Co-op expires on December 31, 2017.

Lorette Marketplace Negotiations Set to Begin

October 30, 2017

The union negotiating committee, consisting of lead negotiator Sonia Taylor, Laura Cote and Helena Tetrault, will be exchanging proposals with the company on November 21. The parties will continue bargaining on November 22 and the union will provide the members at Lorette Marketplace with an update after that date as to the status of their negotiations.

Aryzta Negotiations Reach an Impasse

October 27, 2017

Unfortunately, the union and the company bargaining committees were not able to come to a resolve on a few significant issues deemed to be mutually beneficial.

International Convention - notice of nominations

October 23, 2017

The 2018 UFCW International Convention will take place April 23 to 27, 2018 in Las Vegas, Nevada. 

The Executive Board is recommending to elect 18 Delegates and 5 Alternates.   At the nomination meetings, the members must vote on the Executive Board’s recommended number of delegates. The members must also nominate and elect the delegates and alternates that will attend.

Krown Members Vote Yes on 4-Year Agreement

October 19, 2017

UFCW Local 832 members working at Krown Produce voted in favour of a new four-year collective agreement by 100 percent.

At date of signing, each member received a $350 signing bonus as well as a two percent increase to their wages. Additional two percent increases on members’ wages are scheduled in each of the following three years of the four-year deal.

Impact Group Readies for Negotiations

Mound Milk Negotiations Slated for November 9

The union negotiating committee, headed by union negotiator Debra Malmquist and Donald Wedderburn, is set to meet with the company on November 9, 2017.

Although the collective agreement covering the members at Mound Milk expired on July 31, 2017, it remains in effect until a new deal has been reached. The union committee will be requesting back pay on any monetary items negotiated....

FASD Bargaining Rescheduled

October 4, 2017

The union negotiating committee was set to resume bargaining on September 22, however due to an extensive review of the current benefit plan for the members at FASD, negotiations will now continue on October 27.

McCain Negotiations

October 4, 2017

The union negotiating committee—lead by negotiator Martin Trudel, John Anderson, Eileen Ball, Julia Coleman and Daniel Udey—has additional bargaining dates scheduled to meet with the employer. Therefore, talks are set for October 10 and 13, November 6 and 7, with further dates in the New Year.

Negotiator Trudel will provide further updates after the October 13 meeting.
