Agreement Reached at Fairmont Hotel

January 26, 2007 A new agreement has been reached for the members who are employed at the Fairmont Hotel in Winnipeg. Shop Steward Conference March 1, 2, 3 Postponed.

January 24, 2007 Due to the support staff strike, the shop steward conference that was to be held March 1, 2, 3 has been postponed. If possible, it will be rescheduled in the fall. The shop steward appreciation dinner will be postponed till after the support staff strike. Once a date has been set, all shop stewards will be notified.

Faroex Members Ratify New Deal

January 24, 2007 On January 23, the 68 members employed at Faroex Industries in Gimli Manitoba ratified a new 5 year collective agreement by 80.6%. The new deal negotiated by the local’s secretary-treasurer Jeff Traeger saw great improvements in contract language, wages and benefits. Union negotiates higher wages at Brandon facility.

UFCW Local 832 is pleased to announce that it has been successful in negotiating a job reclassification agreement with Maple Leaf for the members at the Brandon facility. The reclassification was necessary to reflect the changes that have occurred at the operation since it was built in 1999 and to bring the classifications in-line with wages at other operations in the province.
